About Whiting Dental Arts

When it comes to dental health, no one will treat you better than the team at Whiting Dental Arts. We’ll get to know you, your health history, and your dental needs to help you achieve the healthy, beautiful smile you deserve.

The Whiting Dental Arts team has cared for families in the greater Boston area for more than 50 years. It’s not unusual that four generations of a family will come see us in a week for an appointment.

We’re grateful to watch our patients and families grow up with healthy, happy smiles. Meet the friendly experts who will care for your family’s teeth.

We also perform emergency dentist services that include bonding, root canals, crowns, and bridges. As a local dentist, we create lifelong relationships with our patients and their families and work to ensure that they receive treatments in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Dr. Michael Faynzilberg & Dr. Sidney Whiting and our staff invite you to schedule an appointment by calling 781-595-0596 and experience why our patients think Whiting Dental Arts is the best dentist in Swampscott.

Meet Our Staff!

Michael Faynzilberg D.M.D

Michael Faynzilberg D.M.D. has owned Whiting Dental Arts since 2017 and his roots in dentistry run deep. Starting at age 11, Dr. Faynzilberg joined two of his uncles (both dentists) in their dental lab where he helped create dental restorations for patients. He worked in the lab throughout high school and developed a passion for dentistry and exemplary pride in his work.

Dr. Faynzilberg graduated from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2013 and received multiple awards for outstanding patient management and care. He began teaching dental courses prior to graduation and continues to teach as a clinical instructor in the department of general dentistry.

After meeting Dr. Sidney Whiting, the original owner of Whiting Dental Arts, Dr. Faynzilberg fell in love with the practice. He knew right away that he wanted to carry on Dr. Whiting’s legacy of honest, family-centered dental care in the heart of the North Shore. And he’s doing just that, with the latest in dental technology and an expert, friendly staff that truly care about their patients’ well-being and dental health.

William Kropa, D.M.D

Dr. William “Bill” Kropa graduated from Tufts Dental School in 1979 with a Doctor in Dental Medicine. He graduated cum laude and 7th in his class. He then served as a Dentist in the army. His first post was in a hospital based residency in Fort Ord for one year. This was followed by being stationed at West Point, NY for three years. After leaving active duty, Dr. Kropa and his wife took over a practice in the north shore area in 1983. Dr. Kropa and his wife relocated the practice in 1989 where they practiced for 32 years. We are pleased and honored that Dr. Kropa is willing to practice with us as a member of our team.

Jahan R. Monirian, D.M.D.

Originally hailing from the Midwest, Dr. Jahan R. Monirian, or Dr. Jay, received his dental degree from Boston University in 2013. He is an active member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the Spear Dental Study Club. He is also featured among Boston Magazine Top Dentists. Dr. Jay is a part of the Whiting Dental Arts team, which is based in Swampscott, MA. As a dentist, he performs dental procedures like cosmetic veneers, implant restorations, root canals, tooth extractions, periodontal therapy, and fillings. Dr. Jay recognizes that many patients may not be completely comfortable with visiting a dentist. Hence, he endeavors to make dental visits a low-stress experience with minimal discomfort. During his consultations, Dr. Jay endeavors to explain to individuals about their oral health and helps them choose an appropriate treatment plan. He looks forward to working with his patients to help provide preventative care education and practice healthy oral hygiene. Dr. Jay lives in the Malden area where he enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, and comedy shows.

Registered dental Hygienist I have worked in this office since 1986, before Dr. Faynzilberg was even born! I taught dental hygiene for five years at Forsyth (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy). I have my B.S. in Dental Hygiene from the University of Rhode Island. I also have my local anesthesia license. I have been lucky to get to know many of my patients and their families over the years. We get the chance to be a unique part of their health care and their lives. Our team is very kind and compassionate to our patients and each other. I enjoy traveling with my family, especially in Europe. Before I moved to this area, I lived for several years in Switzerland. I also practice yoga, sail and play tennis.

Dental Hygienist I have been a dental hygienist and practicing in the north shore area since 1976. I love living and working in this community. I really lucked out joining the team here. I've met some really great friends who look out for me. Every one here works with kindness and compasion. When I'm not spending time at work, then I'm spending it with my family and the grand kids.

Linda Lamb

Registered dental Hygienist I have been a dental hygienist for 35 years and I hold a master’s degree in nutrition and biochemistry. My role is about so much more than cleaning teeth, it is about providing the most compassionate dental care on the North Shore and translating that to whole-body health care. I really enjoy the team I work with. They are more than coworkers - they’re friends - and our patients are like family. I like to run road races and 5Ks. I also love to do yoga, read and attend wine tastings.

Dental Assistant When I was young and would go to the dentist, the dental staff always seemed so busy and happy. I knew that was a career I would be interested in. I have been in the dental field for three decades and I’ve been with Whiting Dental Arts since 2012. The staff all get along so well with each other - there’s no stress here. In fact, if we weren’t employees, this would be my hobby! I spend a lot of time with my grandchildren who are very busy with sports and school activities. My husband and I also like to travel together.

Dental Assistant I really enjoy my time here at Whiting Dental Arts. I've worked at other offices, but here the staff is so friendly and helpful. Everyone here looks out for each other and our patients like a big family. The doctors are really great and very skilled at what they do. When I'm not working, I spend alot of my time out doors. I love hiking and paddle boarding and exploring nature.

JoJo Guibalt

Office Manager I’ve been here 49 years – I spent 25 years as a dental assistant, and then I made the move to office manager. I love our patients and the friendly, professional relationships we’ve had over the years. I’ve enjoyed watching four generations of families grow. And the more I get to know Dr. Faynzilberg, the more he’s like a son to me! I love to exercise, golf, cook, and spend time with family and friends.
